A bit about Mira...

You could say that I’ve always followed the pull of something sacred, wild, and in rhythm with the unseen.

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by energy, healing, natural medicine, personal growth, and inner freedom.

At 16, in the Philly suburbs, I rolled out a yoga mat in my high school gym class, and something changed.

At 18, I moved to an Ashram in California to immerse myself in Yoga.

It was there that I was introduced to Kirtan (devotional mantra chanting) and these ancient sounds became instantly remembered.

A part of me knew these mantras as if I had always carried them: their cadence, their frequency, their power, their sacredness.

At 20, I booked a one-way ticket to India, guided by my indescribable love for chanting and Vedic culture.

By 22, I was immersed in mantra, traveling with Bhagavan Das, (yogi and mystic), and chanting across continents.

I was an avid knitter in those days too, briefly working at a local yarn shop before I left to begin what became my life on the Bhakti trail.

It was also around age 16 that I met David Newman, founder of Yoga on Main, a yoga studio and community hub in Philadelphia.

What began as friendship between us eventually evolved into a deeper relationship, a musical partnership, a marriage, and a life together steeped in devotion

For decades we traveled the world offering devotional concerts, inspiring a global community of mantra lovers, and living a life sourced from unconditional love.

Mantra and percussion were my passions...

and ultimately, my sacred offerings.

At 33, I became a Mama to Tulsi Magdalena. Her presence lit up my life.. and her magic and stage appearances illuminated hearts around the world.

David and I recorded many albums together, traveled to small towns, large festivals, global stages... and were foundational voices in the Yoga and Conscious Music community.

Some years later, David and I transitioned out of our marriage as gracefully as we had stepped into it... remaining best friends, co-parents, musical partners, and beloveds.

In 2022, we moved to Asheville, NC... separately, yet together.

We were a family.

The mountains became my sanctuary. Life in the countryside was a balm after recent years of global intensity and personal health challenges.

And then...

I was asked to walk straight into the deepest initiation of my life.

In 2024, David was abruptly diagnosed with brain cancer.

He passed just five weeks later... two weeks shy of our daughter’s 13th birthday.

The loss is massive. The love is forever.
And the expansion required for both has reshaped me.

It has deepened what it means to live a path of the human + the holy.

Life has me grieving, mothering, singing, writing, listening, serving...
Holding space.
Living truth.
Mentoring.
Guiding.
Loving.

And offering sanctuary to those navigating their own seasons of loss, change, and awakening on the heart-led path.

I never imagined this would be part of my story.

Yet here I am, age 47,

growing with grief,

parenting through loss,

and still devoted to the sacred.

As Ram Dass said, “We’re all just walking each other home.”
